Story
Thank you for visiting my page. At Pilgrim's hospice we have a simple vision "of a community where people with life limiting illness and their family and friends are supported and empowered to live well in mind and body until the very last moment of their life".
On a professional level, working as a registered nurse within a multidisciplinary team to fulfil this vision is a privilege. Experiencing first hand the courage and strength of our patients and the compassion of my colleagues inspired me to run the London Marathon to raise money for this amazing charity I am proud to be working for. My hope is to raise a minimum of £1,800 to provide valuable care and support around Kent. Every donation, no matter how small makes a difference. Thank you.
On a personal level running and exercise helps calm my forever busy mind. I recently listened to a beautiful song which inspired me to put pen to paper and note down some simple words about how running makes me feel.
'"I run to feel calm"
I run to feel the sun on my face, its warmth on my limbs
the chill of the wind, its breeze rustling through my hair,
the rain on my skin, its damp on my feet,
the presence of all living things crossing my paths,
to see the colours of ever changing nature,
'"I run to feel happy"
I run for you, your friends, family and all who care, I run for the hospice so we can be there
I feel your anguish when we first meet,
the tender touch of your hand , you are safe,
your smile when we tell a little joke,
your peace when you share your life,
the love you share with your kin,
the care and hope you have for them,
their courage when it is time....
"I run to feel strong"
