Story

I retired from the PetroChemical industry in 2020 and took up cycling with all the fervour of the late middle-aged man. However, I couldn’t do more than five miles without a breather, so I signed up for LEJOG in 2022 – 1,000 miles end to end of the UK. Finishing this gave me the appetite for further challenges.

So, why Gibraltar to Benson? I’ll be in Gibraltar sailing in early March and thought, heck, why not just cycle home? Hence a germ of an idea to cycle between two RAF bases and cover 1,500 km to boot. In that time I'll climb circa 50,000' and turn those pedals a third of a million times...

I’ll be riding South to North across Spain in 14 days, picking up the Bilbao – Portsmouth ferry late March for the last two days to RAF Benson.

I’ll be pounding the turbo trainer and Cheshire lanes to stay fit and ready for this big solo and self-supported challenge through the winter.

I've been involved with Mission Motorsport as a volunteer this year, but this is a chance to step it up through this endeavour, and raise some funds for such a great cause and for people who have given so much, it's all the motivation that I’ll need to keep riding to that big goal.

Any donation you can give me will make a difference, if you can share this page as well, then a big thank you!

A big thanks to my jersey sponsors, Falmouth Yacht Brokers & Runway Simulators. Jerry & Jonny it’s appreciated.
