Story
In 2016, my brother, Matt, lost his six year old son Harry to leukaemia, after a more than three year battle with the disease. Since this time Matt, and his wife Debbie, have been raising much-needed funds for Cure Leukaemia, an organisation whose goal is to get life-saving treatments to more children living with blood cancer.
Starting on 7 June, Matt will taking on his biggest challenge to date, lacing up his size fives and running 378 kms (235 miles/nine marathons/a bloody long way mate!) from London to Paris over five days. As one of four support runners, our role being to keep Matt fed, watered and moving forward, I shall be running half marathons on four consecutive days. Then, because that's clearly not challenging enough, on the final day the five of us will be running the Paris marathon course!
As painful as it will no doubt be, it’s really is nothing in comparison to what some go through. So, it’s a privilege to be able to run for this great charity, in memory of my beautiful nephew and to raise vital funds to help others and to one day eliminate this horrible disease.
Why Donate?
Matt has a fundraising target of £100K and every pound (or dollar) that is donated to his challenge, will be directly helping the Cure Leukaemia paediatric trials network. As I will be running the equivalent of a mere three marathons, I have set myself a far more modest target of $5000, though I would of course love to smash this target. Again, all money raised will go directly to Cure Leukaemia.
