Can you help us to help the Children in Ukraine who have not had access to proper education for over ten academic terms!! (over 3years).
Our appeal, KIDZ 4 KIDZ, is to ask the school children, in all 58 schools of East Hampshire to help those school children in great need in Ukraine which is sadly still affected by the ongoing war.
We understand most schools are likely already working with other charities but we are trying to show our area and our children can work together as a team and help children in need in another country through their collective goodwill and deeds.
Myself, Simon Butler and my brother Nick, are farmers based at Hartley Park Farm, Selborne and run the businesses, Barn-Store Alton and The Lavender Fields alongside the main farm. We also have business units and one of our tenants is CCLL-The Helping Hand for Ukraine (charity no 1014274 sc 0040 136) who have been working to relieve and support children and their families living on land still contaminated by the after-effects of the Chernobyl disaster for over 30 years.
Since the Covid years and now the outbreak of war in Ukraine the call on the Charity and its resources have been growing exponentially. In particular, more and more children are found to have not been receiving the core elements of education due to the loss of power, damage to schools and lack of other basic resources.
The Charity receives no Government funding, relying solely on the goodwill of its supporters and donations received.
These children are the future of Ukraine and will be the people who have to rebuild their country. Surely an education is the minimum they deserve?
School In A Bag (SIAB), a UK charity that does as it “says on the tin” providing a child’s essential school supplies in a school bag have been working closely with CCLL over a number of years. This time they are offering to donate nearly 500 rucksacks for children in Ukraine.
We, the Butlers and our 2 businesses, Barn-Store and The Lavender Fields are contributing £1000 to start this appeal to try and help pay to send the rucksacks with school supplies in, clothes, torches, basic medical supplies and many other desperately needed items.
We will look to do this in several trips and need the funds to help pay for fuel and other delivery- related expenses so that the supplies reach the areas where they are needed.
We are asking each school to try and raise £100 (or more would be very welcome! But any sized donation is greatly appreciated) if possible towards the appeal and we will publicise these kind donations as a show of appreciation.
If there are any banners/school mascots you’d like to send with the supplies we can try and get photos for you and of course the trips will be documented as they go there and back. We will also be looking to publicise the appeal and any schools that kindly donate. This would be via our websites, online and local media.
How can you help? Any amount, no matter how small, is going to make a difference.
We are not going to tell you how to organize your school event as I am sure you have more experience of this than we do, but we would ask if you would consider making this cause a beneficiary of your fundraising efforts.
Thank you for your time spent reading this and we would be delighted and very appreciative if you felt your school could take part in this big fundraising event and show the school children of East Hampshire can make a difference by working together!
Many thank
Simon Butler
