We believe research has the power to stop leukaemia devastating lives.

Story

As many of you will know, my mum, Janine Lees was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia

in November 2022.

Following a very tough 12 months, she is now well, although her treatment is still ongoing. During this difficult time, she has received fantastic care both in Scarborough and York hospital. My mum has fought hard and has tackled her illness with determination and perseverance. The funds I raise will be donated to Leukaemia UK as research into the disease, like all cancers, is ongoing.

So why did I decide to walk?

I LOVE walking and the Coast to Coast route has been on my mind for some time. Walking is a passion for me and many of our family members, my mum and grandad included. My late grandad, Don – my mum’s father, walked the Coast to Coast and I’m thrilled to be walking it in his footsteps. The Alfred Wainwright route is recommended to be completed in 12 days. I wanted this to be a challenge so my aim is to walk the 195 miles in just 8 days. This means, I’ll be doing about 25 miles a day.

I’m planning to leave St. Bees on the west coast on the 24th May 2024 and if all goes to plan, I’ll arrive in Robin Hood’s Bay on the 1st June. Training has already begun and I’m really excited for the challenge. If you are able to donate and help me raise funds for Leukaemia UK, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks,
