Story

After an unexpected injury in Autumn 2024, I'm running the Royal Parks Marathon and fundraising for Guide Dogs again!

Why Guide Dogs?

Every day, 250 more people join the 2 million already living with sight loss in the UK. For many, losing their sight can be incredibly isolating and challenging. Guide Dogs is a remarkable charity that provides life-changing support to people living with sight loss, enabling them to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

Guide dogs are more than just helpers – they are loyal companions and friends. They offer mobility, confidence, and companionship to those who need it most. These amazing dogs transform lives, and through my fundraising efforts, I hope to support this incredible cause.

My Love for Dogs

Dogs have always been a big part of my life. Their unwavering loyalty, love, and ability to connect with people have always amazed me. Whether they are our pets, service dogs, or guide dogs, their impact on our lives is profound. By supporting Guide Dogs, I want to help harness the power of these incredible animals to make a positive difference in the lives of those with sight loss.

How You Can Help

£125 buys a Starter Kit for a new guide dog owner

£332 could provide eight weeks of Early Diagnosis Support to a child with sight loss and their family

£710 could buy a Birthing Kit containing all the essential equipment for a guide dog mum to safely deliver her puppies

Training and supporting a guide dog partnership is expensive. It costs around £55,000 to support a guide dog from birth to retirement. Your donations will go towards breeding, training, and matching guide dogs with individuals who need them, as well as providing ongoing support to these partnerships.

Any amount you can give will make a significant difference. Whether it's the cost of a coffee or a more substantial donation, every pound brings us closer to helping another person gain independence and confidence through the partnership with a guide dog.

Join Me on This Journey

As I train for this half marathon, I am motivated by the knowledge that my efforts will contribute to such a worthy cause. I invite you to join me on this journey by donating and sharing my fundraising page with your network.

Together, we can make a real impact and help Guide Dogs continue their amazing work.

Thank you so much for your support!

With gratitude,

Siming

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
