On 15th September 2024, I will be doing the Mighty Stride Kiltwalk … 21 miles of pavement pounding in and around Edinburgh.

I decided to take on this challenge in memory of my brother David, after being asked to join David’s work colleagues from Shoosmiths, who are raising funds for SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) in memory of David … a lovely gesture and a testament to the effect David had on others.

I will always remember and be grateful for the 42, albeit too short, fun filled years of life we shared. David was loving, warm, caring, non-judgmental and in the words of his friends the life and soul of any party. He was the funniest person I have ever known with a wicked sense of humour … dry and withering but never malicious.

David brought joy and laughter to the lives of all who had the privilege to know him but, you never truly know what someone is thinking or what challenges they may be facing inside. This is why fundraising for SAMH is so important … help is out there.

SAMH is Scotland’s largest mental health charity and believes there is no health without mental health. SAMH has represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for more than 100 years. SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.

Every person is individual, special and live their life the best way they know how … that is how David lived and will remain in my heart for evermore along with the memories of the richness of his personality, the pleasure and love, laughter and tears that we shared.

I have not set a target but do need to reach a minimum of £50 for SAMH … any small … or big donation would be very much appreciated.
