Story
I am running a half marathon in aid of Pilgrims Hospice! 🏃🏻♀️👟
Pilgrims Hospice provided end of life care for my mum who passed away in 2022.
Pilgrims Hospice were regularly checking in, ensuring she was comfortable with the huge changes in her life that she was about to face, they provided and fitted aids throughout our home to support her due to her physical strength gradually becoming worse.
The days leading up to her passing she got sick. We phoned Pilgrims Hospice for advice which they informed our GP and requested for a scan. Fast forward to the morning of the scan mum was struggling with getting up. I phoned Pilgrims Hospice for some advice and they informed me to phone the hospital. This became one of the last days we spent with her, without their advice, we wouldn’t have had the further extra days with her before she passed.
No one can prepare you to lose a parent, life is short and although I would’ve loved to spend the rest of my life with mum, having those extra 3 days with her made me eternally grateful and it’s all thanks to Pilgrims Hospice for listening to me on the other end of that phone call.
I’m very grateful for the support they provided throughout this difficult time on our family. They were always an arms reach away and I’m extremely excited to be able to give back to them in any way I can!❤️
Please, if you have lost someone and are struggling, just remember you are not alone 🫶🏻
