Story
We are organising a virtual 90 mile pedalathon from Michael Carlise Centre to the Central Promenade in the holiday town - all from the comfort and warmth of the Michael Carlisle Centre.
But to get there on time we will need to dash like Father Christmas on the big night and arrive in under three hours.
It's all in aid of raising money for a good cause through the SHSC. During last year's 10 hour danceathon extravaganza we collectively raised more than £1000 towards a new music studio.
Why Cleethorpes?
Little Jarvis is five, from Sheffield. His grandma works on a mental health ward and he remembers thinking of her as he clapped on the street, in that confusing time when he wasn't allowed to play with his friends. Jarvis loves his grandma and is really excited to celebrate some festivities with her. The family is spending it all together in Cleethorpes and he's saved up his pocket money to buy her a present, well, he bought the macaroni that he used to spell out 'hero' around the portrait he painted of her at school.
Jarvis got the train with his parents to Cleethorpes, and in three hours grandma arrives - she had to leave later after her shift ended. Oh no! Jarvis felt in his pockets, searched through his bags and then, with a drop of his stomach and a quickening of the pulse he cried: "I forgot grandma's present!"
Jarvis' parents leapt into action, one consoling the little boy and the other on the phone seeing if anybody could help.
A friendly SHSC voice answered, listened to the sad story and had an idea. Let's collect the present and make this little boy's day, and his grandma's. But strikes have called off the rest of the trains and the roads are chock-a-block. The only answer is to cycle! Can we cover the 90 miles to Cleethorpes in three hours and deliver the present before Jarvis' grandma arrives? We will need your help!
