Story
The SHN was established in February 2017 and is aimed at celebrating Hindu culture and Indian heritage and an active voice in championing ethnic diversity across all levels at workplace and career progression of people belonging to ethnic backgrounds
We are supporting the Diwali Basket Brigade to help provide essential support to those in need during the Diwali festival especially those going through the current cost of living crisis.
Diwali Basket Brigade (DBB) is a community initiative funded on donations and run by local volunteers. We provide food hampers to socially deprived / vulnerable households, from all faiths and backgrounds in the UK, ahead of Diwali.
DBB will be taking place on 4th and 5th November 2023 when we will get together at venues in Birmingham, London, Manchester and Leicester to pack and deliver the hampers. Given the current economic climate, there is an even BIGGER need to support the increasing number of families living with food poverty.
We have partnered with multiple food banks and charities across the UK to provide food hampers. These will then be distributed by our partners, to socially deprived, and vulnerable families from all faiths and backgrounds. The hampers will cost £10 each and contain essential non-perishable food items, toiletries such as toothpaste and also a handmade Diwali card - we hope each gift will help to spread the message of hope, love and giving at Diwali.
