Story
In January 2021, Heather at age 36 was diagnosed with stage four Bowel Cancer. Heather, the most beautiful, social, kind, smiling, caring, intelligent, devoted Daughter, Sister, Sister-in-law, Aunt, Godmother, Niece, Cousin and Dearest Friend courageously shared her cancer journey through social media, magazine interviews, radio shows, medical and fundraising events.
Heather’s positive spiritual energy on thriving with cancer and her dedication and passion in raising Bowel Cancer awareness touched so many lives.
Heather had very few signs on how advanced her Bowel Cancer was. After a life saving operation Heather recovered well and thrived each day through passionately practicing yoga, mindfulness, reflexology, exercise, loving food and being with people. Heather shone her bravery through her strong beliefs on the value of vulnerability in life.
In honour of Heather’s legacy we wish to continue to shine Heather’s light through raising awareness on Bowel Cancer and working towards campaigning on reducing the age of the Bowel Cancer screening programme in Ireland.
We’re doing a 100 Mile Challenge for the month of April to raise funds to go towards comfort care equipment for patients being treated on St Vincent’s Oncology Day Ward, Mater Misericordiae Hospital, where Heather was cared for and received treatment every week.
Heather died peacefully surrounded by her loving Family and Friends in the caring hands of St Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown in October 2022.
