Story
In 2016, I was in a domestic violent relationship and experienced repeated physical, emotional, financial and sexual abuse. One night, I found the courage to ask for help from the police. The police removed my abuser from my home, and they were arrested and charged. In 2018, I found the courage to start my healing journey to heal from the trauma inflicted by domestic violence. I did recover from the trauma inflicted by my abuser. I recovered because I found professional support and hope from other survivor stories in the safety of safe spaces, which helped me process my trauma.
On September 23rd in Milton, I'm putting a hopeful step forward for Hope in Every Step, a walk to end violence against women that aims to raise awareness about and end gender-based violence.
By supporting me in my My Hope in Every Step fundraiser, you will support survivors like myself and raise critical funds for Halton Women's Place, the only women's shelter in Halton.
As I honour my story and survivors' stories, celebrate our resilience, and take meaningful strides toward a future free from domestic violence. Together, we can make a lasting impact and create a world where all survivors feel heard, valued, and supported.
