Story
Sheriff David Chalk is ringing the bells of City Churches to raise money for the Sheriffs’ and Recorder’s Fund. The ‘Peal Appeal’ is a programme of bell ringing performances at many of the City churches that are linked to livery companies.
These performances of peals and quarter peals are the bell ringing equivalent of marathons and 10K runs and can take up to 4 hours to complete. They are being organised at some of the City’s most iconic churches including St Paul's Cathedral, St Mary le Bow, Southwark Cathedral, St Bartholomew Smithfield, St Giles Cripplegate, St James Garlickhythe, St Lawrence Jewry, St Magnus the Martyr, St Michael Cornhill, St Olave Hart Street, Holy Sepulchre and St Vedast Foster Lane. The money raised goes to the Sheriffs’ and Recorder’s Fund to support the rehabilitation of prison leavers and their families through individual grants and prison-based rehabilitation projects, see https://sr-fund.org
So do please sponsor me to support this challenge and the commitment of my fellow ringers from across London and around the UK joining me to do this.
