CASCAID brings together friends from around the asset management industry and has raised over £5.3 million for charity. We now support Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, who support families with seriously ill children.

Story

Along with 11 others from the asset management industry I am taking part in the Schroders-sponsored CASCAID Schtrictly Come Dancing event on 5th December! We will be having seven dance lessons with professional teachers and then will be competing for the glitterball trophy at a live final performance in a room full of peers - with hair, make up, sparkle (I hope), not sure about the fake tan.....

This is a fantastic opportunity for me to fulfil something of a secret ambition to learn to dance like Ginger Rogers, but is is also a scary prospect, so I would be very grateful for your support.

CASCAID unites colleagues (and friends and family), across the asset management industry to raise money for charity. Since 2018, we've raised over £5.3 million for CRUK, GOSH and the NSPCC. We’re now supporting Rainbow Trust Children's Charity.

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity is the leading organisation supporting families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness.

Being told that your child may die is one of the most traumatic experiences a parent can go through. Life is shattered into a million pieces and will never be the same again. Dealing with everyday practicalities and supporting each other can be completely overwhelming both practically and emotionally. Emotional support from a trusted Family Support Worker combined with practical support to ease the day-to-day burden of caring, can boost resilience, reduce isolation and improve the over-all well-being of the entire family.

Despite being told their child is seriously ill or that their child is going to die, the normal everyday things still need doing. Bills need to be paid; meals cooked...the list is endless. Families have to learn the new language of medicine, how to give drugs and assess symptoms, as well as getting to and from hospital appointments. Many will be watching their child’s health deteriorating and facing an inevitable death. With most services our starting point is saying ‘this is what we can offer’, with Rainbow Trust, it’s ‘what do you need’. Rainbow Trust do all the things that no other services offer and they provide real, practical support. Finella Craig, Consultant in Paediatric Palliative Medicine, Great Ormond Street Hospital
