Story
I'm a 67 year old grandmother running in her second marathon to raise funds for the NSPCC.
In 2021 we lost our daughter, Holly, after she had struggled with her mental health and alcohol addiction. Holly enjoyed life to the full and, when well, trained for triathlons. It was Holly who encouraged me to start running by doing the Couch to 5K. After we lost Holly, I kept running, it helped me cope with the hardest days of my life and I was inspired by the runners in the 2023 London Marathon to use my running to raise funds for charities close to Holly.
Holly loved children; she was a great, fun loving auntie to her nephews and nieces and her friends children too. She supported children's charities by making donations and helping out at children's groups as part of her work as a lawyer. By running the 2025 London Marathon for the NSPCC, I'm keeping Holly's memory alive and continuing her support;. This is Holly's legacy. She will be with me on every training run and every step of the 26.2 miles on 27th April, 2025.
The NSPCC is the leading children's charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. We help children who have been abused to rebuild their lives, protect those at risk, and find the best ways of preventing abuse from ever happening.
Every child deserves the best possible chance to rebuild their life after abuse
That’s why we’re here. That's what drives all our work. And that’s why – as long as there’s abuse – we will fight for every childhood.
