Many of you will have attended events at Presteigne’s wonderful Community Barn - a terrific collaboration between the Town Council and Sheep Music back in 2019. This permanent venue has made a huge difference to the organisers and to the costs of running events. However, the barn has no storage capacity and there is always a huge amount of equipment and gear to haul to the site and then back again once the event has finished. This takes a massive amount of time and energy.

So, to cut to the chase the Big Barn needs a smaller brother, a secure storage shed for equipment that will also cleverly double up as ‘The Baa’ (serving drinks and refreshments) thus avoiding another lengthy set up operation. This is another joint project between the Town Council and Sheep Music, with Sheep Music taking responsibility for building the Store, and, like the Big Barn, the plan is for it to be built by the same mix of experienced builders and enthusiastic amateurs who all live in the community.

The project cost is £30,000. We are already forging ahead and have been awarded £20,000 from the National Lottery Awards. The Town Council is providing £3,000, Sheep Music and the Carnival Committee are contributing £1,000 each and the final £5,000 is where we are reaching out to you. Please do take the time to add even a little bit to this project which will enrich all of our lives for many years to come.

Planning Permission has already been granted so we are hoping that construction will start in April and it is hoped to have the new store ready for the 2025 Carnival.
