Story
We David’s family and friends are raising money in memory of David Michael Lanham who died on the 7th of February 2025 in St Luke’s hospice. Dave received such wonderful palliative and end of life care from the hospice and they supported the whole family throughout.
They are a charity and provide all their care for free, so rely on the generosity and commitment of supporters to raise more than 80% of their costs.
Dave a devoted Husband to Rachel and Dad to Michael has dedicated three decades to helping others working for the British Red Cross, Age UK, Young carers and Crane Quality Counselling.
In October 2024 Dave received a high Sheriff’s Award in recognition of his outstanding service to the community. In yet more recognition of his devotion to others Dave became the inaugural recipient of a brand new civic award the Northwich Mayor’s Award, and the honour will now be bestowed on other Northwich residents for years to come.
Dave’s family are so proud of him and his outstanding charity work that we want to raise as much money as possible for St Luke’s in his memory.
Nothing can sum up Dave better than this poem which Rachel wrote for him.
Everybody Needs a Dave, by Rachel
We built together, brick by brick,
A love so true, a bond so thick.
With open hands and hearts so wide,
We walked through life, side by side.
A heart so big, so kind, so true,
The world was lucky to have you.
You never turned a soul away,
Always there for others, come what may.
You talked, you listened, and you shared,
Lifted our hearts, and showed you cared.
If I could have cloned you, oh yes, I would,
To share your kindness, to spread your good.
And though you're gone, your love remains,
In bright fond memories, of endless days.
Because as we know, through all you gave,
These words so true - Everybody needs a Dave
Dave you never walked alone and we will complete this walk for you. We all love and miss you 💙💙

(It cost £31 for 1hr of nursing care per person and they are a 12 bed unit, My Father was 2 people to assist in St Luke’s so that is £62 for two nurses to care for the likes of him for 1hr and he needed 24hr care. For changing, washing, medication and eating. So this is why we are doing so much for St Luke’s) please join us in raising as much as we can. ❤️
