NORTH WEST BLOOD BIKES, Lancashire and Lakes, provides a free and completely volunteer led service from Keswick in the North of the region and down to and across Lancashire and also as a relay to the wider North West and beyond to 100's of health locations including hospitals, health centres, GPs and care homes. They provide a vital out of hours service to transport bloods, breast milk, surgical instruments, medical records and anything else that can be carried on a motorbike to wherever vitally needed. Their free service to health and care services relies on fundraising and donations to keep their volunteer riders and bikes safely on the road. As the charity is volunteer led no management fees are incurred. Every family in a local area can potentially benefit from their service, and although you may never know how they have might have been involved, the impact of their efficient and reliable service is massive and has enabled funds that would otherwise be spent on transport costs to be retained for use elsewhere.
