Story
Hi, I’m Sharon, my journey started towards the end of lockdown. I was a pool swimmer looking for something safe to do. I found an Introduction to Open Water Swimming (ITOWS) at Thrybergh County Park and with the support and knowledge of that team my adventure began.
I have progressed to swimming safely in rivers, sea and outdoor lidos, making great friends along the way. Open water is amazing for my health and wellbeing, and my journey has taken me to many new places, whilst making new friends and eating lots of cake.
My Challenge
I have pledged to raise £1000 for the Big House Heroes challenge at Wentworth Woodhouse by swimming 100 lengths a week over 100 days. My journey started in June and much of my swimming has been and will be in open waters and rivers. The update section will have details about how my challenge is progressing and where I have already been.
Why I’m helping Wentworth Wood House Preservation Trust
Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust creates life-changing opportunities for the people of South Yorkshire through innovative education projects, dedicated community engagement activities, wellbeing programmes, dynamic cultural experiences, inclusive new job opportunities and training and apprenticeships for people of all ages. Whilst also keeping the lights on and supporting their daily running and essential maintenance costs. By supporting me to raise the funds you will be helping to regenerate Wentworth Woodhouse as a cultural centre with community at its heart.
Wentworth is such a wonderful place to work, volunteer and visit; please help me and its supporters to bring it back to life for future generations.
Thanks Sharon (Wentworth Mermaid 🧜🏻♀️)
