Story
First of all - thank you for visiting our page. Every donation will count in making a difference to patients and their families receiving specialist palliative care from Ashgate Hospice.
We have been friends for over 30 years after meeting through Nursing on the Intensive Care Unit at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. At that time Ashgate Hospice had been open around 4 years and we recall how the hospice had started to make a huge impact in enabling specialised, dignified end of life care.
Why we are doing the Santa Fun Run?
* For Caron 2024 has marked the 10th Anniversary since the tragic loss of both her mum and dad, just weeks apart to cancer.
* For Sharon it also marks 10 years since losing her cousin Dave to cancer, and as a family we will remain eternally grateful for the end of life care he received at Ashgate Hospice.
In their memory, as Caron is visiting from Australia for Christmas, together we want to remember these special people by raising funds for Ashgate Hospice.
On Sunday 22nd December 2024, lots of Santa Fun Runners #TeamAshgate will walk, jog or run to raise money for Ashgate Hospice, and we will be there along with Sharon’s husband John to ‘do our bit’ in memory of these special people.
What Ashgate Hospice does?
They provide specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses across North Derbyshire. Ashgate hospice also provides support for the families of those we care for, and all our services are available in the community, patients own homes, and in our 21-bed in-patient unit. Currently the hospice only has enough money to open 15 of the 21 beds, so are forced to make difficult choices daily, deciding who they can admit and who sadly they can’t.
Please sponsor us to help the team at Ashgate Hospice reach their fundraising targets.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for a healthy and happy 2025.
