Story
On the 17th of October our lovely auntie/sister Sharon (Shazza) lost her battle with stomach cancer at the age of 55.
Over the past 2 months the support we have received as a family from Martletts has been invaluable. Shazza spent 5 weeks in the inpatient unit where she received around the clock care from the amazing nurses, doctors, health care assistants and volunteers there. They looked after her so well and made sure they managed her symptoms so that she could enjoy her last weeks. Shazza then came back home as per her wishes on the 27th September where the Martletts Hospice at Home nurses would come out at least once a day (often more!) to administer her medication which was helping to keep her as comfortable as possible. They not only offered support to Shazza but also to both of us whenever we needed it.
Shazza wanted this fundraiser to continue after her death and she asked us to encourage people to donate to Martletts instead of buying flowers for the funeral.
Thank you so much:)
