Story

Hello, we’re Sharlene De'Allie, Team Leader in the Young Carers Service at Sutton Carers Centre, and Rachael MacLeod, CEO.

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.

Climbing mountains, running marathons, taking on incredible endurance challenges. We have enormous admiration for everyone who tackles those feats - but anyone who knows us will understand that what we’re attempting may be even more arduous...

As two people who are passionate, enthusiastic, and rarely short of something to say, we’ve decided to take on a Sponsored Silence.

That’s right - no chatting, no singing, no sharing ideas, no enthusiastic conversations, and no filling awkward silences. For those who know us well, staying quiet for an entire day might just be the greatest challenge of our lives!

Too many Carers feel unheard, unseen, or overlooked. By giving up our voices for a day, we’re recognising the importance of listening to Carers and helping to ensure their voices are heard, valued, and acted upon.

These issues are not only important to us professionally; this is deeply personal too, as both of us have been Young and Adult Carers throughout our lives.

So, if you’d like to support a cause that is dear to our hearts this National Carers Week - and perhaps enjoy the rare spectacle of us staying silent for a whole day - we’d be incredibly grateful for your donation. Every contribution, from the UK or abroad, will specifically fund wellbeing breaks for Carers in Sutton and help build a community where Carers are recognised, supported, and heard.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
