Story
After the birth of my daughter in June 2023, I experienced a challenging journey. Postnatal depression and psychosis took hold of me, shattering the joyous moments that should have been the most precious in my life. Postnatal depression is a type of depression that affects many parents after welcoming a new baby into their lives. It's a common problem, impacting more than 1 in every 10 women within a year of giving birth.
But I refuse to let this define me. I am determined to turn my experience into something positive, something that can help others who may be going through similar struggles. That's why I've decided to take on the Coventry Half Marathon 2024.
It's been nearly 10 months and myself & my daughter Orlagh are stronger than ever. She is the reason why I am here today, Despite everything.
By participating in this marathon, I aim to raise awareness about postnatal depression and psychosis, shedding light on this often misunderstood condition. Through my journey, I want to inspire hope and empathy in others, letting them know that they are not alone.
I am fundraising for Mind, an incredible charity that provides vital support and resources for individuals facing mental health challenges. Mind's work is crucial in ensuring that no one has to face their mental health battles alone.
My goal is to raise £200 for Mind by the time of the Coventry Half Marathon on April 28th, 2024. Every pound donated will make a difference in someone's life, helping them access the support they need during their darkest moments.
I humbly ask for your support in this endeavor. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and create a world where mental health is prioritized and supported with compassion and understanding.
