Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Poppy, is 5. On the 16th June 2022, poppy (who was 4 at the time) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. (This is a blood cancer)
This came as a huge shock to our family, and we were all heartbroken, Poppy included. She didn’t understand why she couldn’t go to school, play with her friends or do the things she used to do. Anyone who knows poppy, knows how happy she normally is, there isn’t a day, she isn’t smiling. We lost that part of poppy, when she was diagnosed.
On the 31st august, 2 days after her 5th birthday, poppy was invited to the fire station in our hometown, where she was treated as a princess. They dotted balloons around the station, played hide and seek, she had a ride in the fire engine, received gifts, held the hose, and a range of other things. This was the first time, she had smilied that beautiful smile in such a long time. I’ll forever be grateful to all individuals who played a part in making her feel so special!
A week ago, after just coming out of theatre, Poppy told me she wanted to raise some money for the firefighters she met that day, so here we are.
On the 16th June 2023, poppy, and all of our family, will be walking the Humber bridge, which is around 1.4 miles long, (so in all, 2.8 miles) in a bid to raise as much money as we possibly can. We will be dressed up, laughing and singing our hearts out!
If you can support poppy on this journey, we will all be so very grateful!
With love, poppy and her very proud mummy xx
EDIT: Poppy is currently in the hospital very poorly so unfortunately this isn’t going to go ahead as planned on the date specified! But please know as soon as she is back on her feet, she’s rearing to go and get this all done! ❤️
(Please note, we have set a huge target, and whilst we don’t expect to raise that, we’d like to raise as much as possible)
