Story
I had heard stories about those who had taken up this challenge in the past and never had the opportunity to do so myself so when the chance presented itself, my logic was simple: I have flown over it, climbed it, been under it so why not abseil off it? Makes no sense I know...
So I am going to attempt to abseil off the Forth Bridge on Sunday 16th June 2024, which happens to be Father's Day. Although I have been fortunate to never have had to use the services of the charity, I know very well how important their work is across Scotland and how much of a difference it could make if my loved ones or I ever needed them.
The SCAA have kindly allowed me, alongside 19 others, to abseil off the bridge to raise funds in their name and I hope to not disappoint by raising some money for them whilst hopefully making a spectacle of myself for the amusement of others.
I know things are hard for everyone at the best of times and even more so in our current cost of living situation but if you are in a position to make a donation, however small, it will go to great use. The money does not come to me and goes directly to the charity via JustGiving and I am in no way being paid to take part; in fact, I paid to participate! The entertainment you shall receive in return will hopefully be worth every penny of your donation. I can't promise tears but with me you never know.
The hope would be to livestream my lack of ability during the abseil, depending on what is possible, but be hopefully captured on camera for generations to make memes from, at the very least.
Please do share with family and friends and help me raise as much money as possible, even sharing with your networks would help me greatly.
About the SCAA
Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance is Scotland’s only charity-funded air ambulance service. We rely on public support to keep flying and responding to time-critical emergencies wherever they occur in Scotland. From our bases in Perth and Aberdeen we can reach 90% of Scotland’s population within 25 minutes, providing a vital lifeline to communities all over the country. Our mission is to deliver more care, more quickly, to more people across Scotland - but we can only keep flying and saving lives with your support.
