Shana’s Story
On 3rd December 2021, I gave birth to a beautiful, sleeping baby I named Shafia. ‘Doing something’ is a way I channel my grief and remember Shafia and all her little heavenly friends and their parents. I’ve been fortunate to work on projects with Stepping Hill to support newly bereaved mums and also fundraising for Children of Jannah.
I’m blessed to be working with a colleague who leads a support group called BLISS to help employees who may have been through baby loss. Sarah Lyons, my wonderful colleague who heads up BLISS, is my friend/ cake maker extraordinaire and is helping me with my first ‘Tea for Tommy’s’ on Friday 28th June to be hosted at Parrs Wood High School for members of staff and students. Big brother Idrees and my colleagues will be baking cakes 🍰 and hope to raise awareness and funds.
If you work at Parrs wood, please come and bake with us on Wednesday 26th June after school for an hour! Sign up sheet is in staff room :)
Sarah’s Story
BLISS (Baby loss in school support) is in place because I wanted to make Puddins short life meaningful. We lost Puddin in 2019 due to an ectopic pregnancy. My left fallopian tube and puddin had to be removed and we have navigated our grief through different means of charity fundraising , delivering more suitable materials regarding ectopics pregnancies (from EPT) to local medical centres, hospitals and doctors and Puddins biggest achievement - BLISS.
Following our loss we started to struggle with infertility and TOMMYs were there as an early and for advice. We fell pregnant a couple of times in between and lost due to chemical pregnancies but finally 2 1/2 yrs after starting our pregnancy journey we held our boy ‘Kit’ in our arms. 3 yrs down the line we are still raising awareness and supporting other through BLISS and open conversation.
Tea For Tommy’s
We are fundraising for Tommy’s who provide expert advice and fund pioneering research to prevent stillbirth, miscarriage and premature birth. Your sponsorship allows Tommy’s to continue their vital work – in short you’re helping save babies' lives.
Events like Tea for Tommys not only raises awareness but opens up opportunities for conversation, educates and allows for others to have that needed support.
Please give generously, your support means the world to us and many other families.
We also welcome any drop offs of cakes to sell on the day - home made (please include ingredient list) or bought - please drop off to at home or at Parrswood on Wed 26th or Thurs 27th June by arrangement.
