Attempt to summit Mount Kenya , 20 January 2024
We create enriching play environments to help children recover from trauma

Story

On 20th of January 2024, I will be flying out to Nairobi attempting to summit Mount Kenya which is an extinct stratovolcano and the second-highest peak in Africa (after Kilimanjaro which I’ve conquered in 2010).

This trip is self-funded, and I am keen to support a good cause.

Being a mother of 3 children I have decided to raise funds for Bright Horizon Foundation for children. They support families by Creating “Bright Spaces” which are warm, safe, enriching play environments located in homeless shelters, domestic violence refuges, hospitals, police stations and prison visits. They help support vulnerable children affected by Domestic Violence, Parental Imprisonment, and Ill Health. Bright Spaces provide unique hubs for children to play, gather with families, and access the services they need.

The funds I raise will improve the interview suites at Police stations where children that suffered abuse are being interviewed. The aim is to raise £3,500 which is the approximative cost to equip a room with age-appropriate toys and games, as well as calming features such as soft lighting and comfortable seating. These rooms will be specially designed to make children feel safe and comfortable, which will help them to give the best possible evidence against their abusers.

Please donate today and help my fundraising campaign to make a difference in the lives of these children.

Thank you for your support!

About the charity

We create Bright Spaces; enriching play environments for children experiencing crisis and disadvantage. Our Bright Spaces are in domestic refuges, homeless shelters, child protection interview suites, hopitals and prisons. They enable children to have fun, learn and heal from trauma through play.
