Story
Help us beat loneliness this Winter
We need your help to ensure that people in Surrey who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, partially sighted and deafblind are not left lonely and isolated this Winter.
Our community services, like our Meet Up Catch Ups, rely on donations from generous supporters like you. Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a real difference to the lives of individuals like Reg, Dennis, Pam and Vanessa.
Reg has shared how our hubs have helped him connect with others: “I come to have a chat, cuppa and a biscuit, sharing stories with people in the same situation.”
Dennis expresses gratitude to the community: “We look forward to our monthly catch up to exchange news and ideas with like-minded people.”
Pam appreciates the understanding she finds: “It’s lovely to spend a couple of hours with people who understand what I’m going through with my sight loss.”
Vanessa said, “Sight loss can be isolating, but this group has given me a sense of connection, that I didn't have before.”
Your support is vital this Winter to continue offering these invaluable services.
What your donation will buy?
£15 pays for one hour’s room hire to enable people to meet up in a warm environment each month and have a cup of tea
£25 pays for one hour’s visit from our AI Trialblazer to help people learn more about technology and how it can help them stay in touch more easily with friends and family
£50 pays for an interpreter for an hour to ensure someone who uses BSL as a first language can talk to other people and not feel lonely and isolated
£100 goes towards our volunteer coordinator to ensure drivers can be available to take people to our monthly hubs who otherwise would have had to stay at home on their own at home on their own
Together we can help bring warmth and friendship to the lives of those feeling lonely.
Thank you for considering a donation to help us keep our community hubs and other services running.
