Story
Back in 2003 on January 18th, I lost my lovely Mum, Joyce to ovarian cancer. My Mum was only 56 years old (she turned 56 a week before she passed away). It is a cruel and unforgiving disease and I saw first hand, the pain and anguish my Mum went through for months on end, when I was by her bedside. Fast forward 20 years and I wanted to add my Mum's name to her parents gravestone in Middleton, Manchester, as she was cremated and I had nowhere to visit on anniversaries and birthdays.
The church would not allow it as my Mum wasn't buried there, even though I just wanted it to say "In remembrance of their daughter Joyce". So, instead I have decided to climb the three highest mountains in the UK in 24 hours, AKA The 3 Peaks Challenge, in memory of my Mum, and I will be doing this in aid of Target Ovarian Cancer.
Knowing how devastating this cruel disease is, I would love to raise as much money as possible to help women who are suffering and make their lives as comfortable as they possibly can be.
Target Ovarian Cancer is the UKs leading ovarian cancer charity working to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research and provide much-needed support to women with ovarian cancer. They're the only charity fighting ovarian cancer on all three of these fronts, across all four nations of the UK.
Your support means they can continue to raise awareness and maintain their support services.
