Story
Thank you for visiting my page. I’m nervously looking forward to running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 and raising important funds and awareness for Anaphylaxis UK.
In the UK, 1-2% of adults and 5-8% of children have a food allergy; this equates to nearly 3 million people. Hospital admissions due to allergies and anaphylaxis in England have nearly doubled in the last twenty years, and 20% of serious allergic reactions to food happen whilst a child is at school.
The most traumatic moments of Tessa's young life have been related to her allergies and the risk of anaphylactic shock. At a very young age she suffered analphylactic shock after eating lentil-based crisps, something we had no idea of the risk of. After receiving an EpiPen injection followed by treatment at hospital Tessa made a full physical recovery, but the memory of this life-threatening event remains for Tessa and for her big sister, Elodie. We were lucky that Tessa recovered and was treated so quickly. Others are not so lucky.
Anaphylaxis UK is the only UK-wide charity operating solely for the growing numbers of people at risk of serious allergic reactions and anaphylaxis. For 30 years, they have been striving for a brighter and safer future for everyone living with a serious allergy by providing trusted and scientifically-based resources and training to individuals and families, education settings, businesses, and healthcare professionals.
Thank you for supporting my journey and the vital work of Anaphylaxis UK.
