Story
After completing the 3 Peaks Challenge and the Welsh 3,000s in previous years, the next logical step was for us to attempt the Scottish 4,000s; one through hike to summit every Mountain over 4,000ft in Scotland, unassisted.
However, when chatting about previous challenges with friends and family we were often asked, “What charity are you doing it for?” To which we had to sheepishly reply, “None”.
So, when we finally decided that we would attempt the Scottish 4,000s, sat in front of the fire with a pint at The Huntsman, we knew that our trek in 2024 had to be more than just a personal challenge; it had to benefit others.
Knowing that Pete the owner of The Huntsman has a strong connection to Hope House and raised a lot of money in partnering The Huntsman with Hope House for many pervious events, we asked him what he thought. Without hesitation, he was willing to support us in raising money for this amazing charity.
Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith care for babies, children and young people who have life-threatening conditions and are not expected to live beyond 18 years of age.
They also offer counselling and bereavement counselling to hospice families, and bereavement counselling to any family living in the area who has suffered the death of a child in any circumstance up to 18 years of age.
We are fundraising for Hope House & Ty Gobaith as part of our personal hike through the Scottish 4,000s, May 9th to May 11th, 2024. Our target amount is £1,000. Your support will make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children and their families.
The Scottish 4,000’s challenge is to through hike and summit all 9x Scottish 4,000-foot Mountains in 3 days, unassisted. The mountains are on two Mountain ranges; 4x on the Lochaber range near Fort William and the remaining 5x in the Cairngorms near Aviemore.
