Scott’s Fundraiser for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust in honour of Hannah

Kilimanjaro Climb · 9 September 2024
This September I will be climbing Kilimanjaro in honour of my partner, Hannah, who died in 2021 due to a misdiagnosed ectopic pregnancy.
Three years ago my life was forever changed when I lost Hannah. Hannah was an intelligent, honest, beautiful and kind young woman who had so much to look forward to. She had just embarked on her career as a teacher and was already making a positive impact at her school. Hannah was the star in many people's lives, but especially in mine. In honour of Hannah's memory, I am aiming to continue to raise awareness of ectopic pregnancy and to raise funds in support of The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.
For every £1 raised my company, bp will match any donations made up to $5000.
Ectopic pregnancy is a common, potentially life-threatening condition that affects around 1 in 80 pregnancies. Put very simply, it means “an out-of-place pregnancy”. With an ectopic pregnancy, the fertilised egg becomes caught or delayed while progressing along the Fallopian tube, which can lead to serious problems requiring immediate medical attention.
Each year in the UK nearly 12,000 women have ectopic pregnancies diagnosed. Sadly, there are on average three deaths per year in the UK and Ireland due to ectopic pregnancy. In the 21st century, no woman should die of an ectopic pregnancy.
The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust focuses on early pregnancy loss through ectopic pregnancy. They are the leading charity focusing on ectopic pregnancy in providing such extensive general information and peer support for anyone experiencing the condition.
The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust was established in 1998, founded in memory of Sophie Winters by her parents. Sophie lost her life to a misdiagnosed ectopic pregnancy.
The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust believes that no woman or pregnant person should die from an ectopic pregnancy.
