We create 3-course meals from surplus food to reduce hunger & loneliness

Story

I’m running the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon on the 11th of May to raise money for Foodcycle - an incredible charity that uses surplus food donated by supermarkets and food banks to create meals served weekly at various projects around the UK. 🥑 🥕 🍊 🥦

I have recently become one of the leaders at the project in Harehills in Leeds after volunteering there since last June. Every week I see firsthand the incredible impact that Foodcycle has on the local community. We are not a foodbank, no referrals are necessary, and our volunteers serve people at tables and encourage conversation and connection. It’s something really special, with regular guests who have made friends and built bridges in an incredibly diverse community.

If you know me, you know I love running (especially at 9am on a Saturday morning ;) ), and I’ve dabbled in a few half marathons, but this will be my first marathon, and I know it’s a huge challenge !!

If you’d like to know more about what we do at Foodcycle, please follow this link to have a read: https://foodcycle.org.uk. If you would like to give your time and volunteer at Foodcycle, amazing! There is more information about how to sign up on the website, or do message me for more information.

If all you lovely people donated just £3 - which is less than the price of a takeaway coffee before work and even less than the cost of a pint after work - I’d reach my target easily. No donation is too small!

Thank you for reading, donating and giving your time.

Much love
