Story
The Savills Country Department are organising a charity cycle ride from London to Brighton on 27 September 2024 to raise donations for Charlie's Team Marsden Fund.
On 18th October 2023, our friend and colleague, Charlie was diagnosed with Stage 4, incurable lung cancer. After approximately 4 months only of a lingering cough, a tight chest and sore ribs he was completely blindsided and his world turned upside down. With the help of the amazing Professor Popat at The Royal Marsden, a liquid biopsy identified that Charlie has an extremely rare form of non-small cell lung cancer named ALK Positive. There is currently no cure for this type of cancer and the median life expectancy is under 7 years. At 39 and with a young family, this was, and continues to be, simply agony to hear.
Through this page, every single penny raised will go directly in to Professor Popat's fund for Lung Cancer Research. They are making huge advances currently; indeed the miracle pills that Charlie takes daily now, were only approved in 2015. Over the coming years, the Professor has confidence that we can move closer and closer to managing Alk Positive cancer like a chronic illness, as opposed to the terminal diagnosis it is today. But, it is vital that he is able to continue with such ground-breaking research, and we need your help now to ensure that Charlie is still here to benefit.
Please donate generously.
