Story
We urgently need to raise funds for lifesaving treatment.
My sister, Elaine aged 44 has received an unbearably cruel and devastating diagnosis; a terminal, grade 4, highly aggressive brain tumour which, in the UK, has limited treatment options. She's a mum of two teenagers...imagine being faced with the heartbreaking prospect of not seeing your children get married & have their own kids, graduate or even be there for their next birthday. That’s her current reality; prognosis for this type of tumour is pretty dismal. Elaine's been given only 12-15 months to live.
Upon hearing this news we’ve been frantically researching and have explored what is available outside of the standard of care offered by the NHS and there is a glimmer of hope! There have been encouraging developments in Germany where she can receive immunotherapy via a personalised vaccine. The GoFundMe has raised an incredible 11K which will cover the initial testing process but we now need to raise an additional amount for the treatment (45K)
Pre diagnosis, Elaine was a dedicated residential care worker helping vulnerable children which she juggled with busy family life- a stark contrast to life right now. In April, Elaine was admitted to hospital with a slight drooping in her face and following a CT scan a mass was discovered in her brain. 31st May 24 Stoke Hospital performed an awake craniotomy; unfortunately, they were unable to remove it in full which means we now have to do everything we can to shrink and stabilise the tumour. She completed the first round of chemo and radiotherapy and ready for the next phase of treatment
If you’ve donated already to the GoFundMe page then THANK YOU! The circle of love and support has been truly uplifting and has helped carry us through this very challenging time. We are relaunching this page to begin fundraising for immunotherapy treatment and we are now affiliated with the charity Yes To Life.
Please dig deep please spread the word and please help.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
