Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In 2018, Meadhbh Cameron (Moran) left her home near Limerick in Ireland to embark on a new and exciting adventure in life. She came to Glasgow to study at Caledonian University to become a Paramedic. This was a true reflection of the type of person that Meadhbh was; kind, caring and selfless.

As a student, she was at Glasgow West Station, and once qualified she joined the Scottish Ambulance Service and came to Clydebank station, where she would be affectionately known as Mavis or Maisie!! Meadhbh was a beautiful human inside and out, she had a bright, infectious personality, just loved to laugh and a smile that lit up the room.

Completely unexpectedly in September 2022, at the age of just 24; Meadhbh got the devastating news that she had lung cancer and life changed instantly for her, Lee and their families. Just 6 months after her diagnosis, Meadhbh passed away, leaving a huge void among her many friends in the ambulance service.

While in hospital, The Teenage Cancer Trust at the Beatson Cancer Centre in Glasgow provided our Meadhbh with amazing care, compassion and support. The staff made her final months here just that little bit easier. They even helped to organise a very short notice wedding for her and Lee!

To show The Teenage Cancer Trust how much we appreciate everything they did for our Mavis, a small team from across Glasgow stations in the Scottish Ambulance Service, will be raising money for this incredible charity by walking the West Highland Way in August over 6 days. We are incredibly honoured to be able to say that Meadhbh's dad Seamus will be coming over from Ireland to join us on the walk, something we think Meadhbh would find amazing!!

Please, please donate as much as you can, so the Teenage Cancer Trust can continue to provide amazing support to all young people dealing with this awful disease.
