In the summer, I was lucky enough to earn a place for London Marathon 2025 in the ballot! Having almost forgotten I’d enter the ballot, the email filled me with equal parts excitement and fear!
I then spent a good deal of time pondering which charity to support. Which cause would keep me stepping one foot in front of the other after 20+ miles?
As an eventing fan and amateur rider, 2024 was a year packed with highs; #TeamGB took the gold medal 🥇 in Paris, Walter and Ros dominated Burghley, Ballaghmor Class returned to full fitness for an emotional win at Maryland….
But amongst all of those highs were some horrific lows. The eventing community suffered desperate losses and some riders suffered devastatingly life changing injuries.
Therefore in the end, my decision of which charity to support became easy. So thank you, Spinal Research for allowing me to don your t-shirt for London. I hope to do you proud!
Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury.
With an estimated 105,000 individuals in the UK living with such injuries, the need for innovative solutions has never been more urgent. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of the public to support our vital research efforts.
By participating in the London Marathon, I hope that I can raise £1,000 to support Spinal Research’s groundbreaking work.
A little donation towards my miles can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by spinal cord injuries. Together, we can pave the way for new treatments and bring hope to countless individuals and their families.
Help me to help them make a change—every step brings us closer to a future where paralysis is no longer a barrier. So I’m hoping to raise £100 per mile.
Oh and since everyone always wants to know, my target time? 3 hr 30 mins. So donate generously!
