Story
In October 2023, my dad passed away unexpectedly. In the coming days after I was made aware just how much of an impact that this charity had on my dad's life in the past 2 years. During COVID-19 my dad had become a very isolated person. Although he had his wife and myself living with him, he did not have many others around him and it drained his mental health. It came to the point, we didn't think he would go outside the house at all as he feared catching the virus. Once the lockdown's started lifting and he regained a slight bit of confidence to reach out and attend one of the groups that the McCarthy-Dixon Foundation were offering. After a while, he gained his confidence back in going out of the house. He became a social butterfly again and the old, happy dad had returned. He enjoyed going on trips with them and attending the weekly groups. He made new friends and was always excited to be involved.
Knowing this, and thankful for everything that this group did, I want to give back to them and help them raise funds to enable them to keep going and doing the wonderful work that they are doing. I'm not a marathon runner or a major sports person but can just about bare the thought of being thrown out of a plane (yes I am aware I will have an instructor attached to me at all times), this seems like a good thing to do. So I ask you all, where able please help me raise some funds to help this charity continue to do what they are doing.
Here is a bit more about the charity:
During the first COVID-19 lockdown, many people were suddenly faced with new challenges and difficulties, with no resources to cope. The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation was initially established during this time. Since then, they have evolved into a multi-faceted charity with community at the heart of everything they do - providing a broad range of supportive welfare services to those in need.
