Every year my church St. Francis of Assisi choose a charity to support over Lent, members of the church take part in different fundraising activities during this time.

This year ShelterBox has been chosen - I have decided to do a sponsored swim, I am a keen swimmer and used to be able to swim long distances in my youth, but have got out of shape and my abilities have declined. So with that in mind, I am going to swim 1 metre for every kilometer as the crow flies between High Wycombe and Damascus, Syria (One of the many places ShelterBox works in) and back again which is 7166m during Lent.

Last year having completed 5km in 4 weeks for another charity which was a challenge, doing over 7km is 6 weeks will mean I will have to push myself.
