Story

Stonewater’s Bow Court and Hazelmead House have joined Swindon’s Big Dog Art Trail!

The Big Dog Art trail starts on 15 July 2023; large fibreglass "balloon dog" sculptures will be decorated by artists and placed in parks and other open spaces around Swindon. The trail is in aid of Julia's House children's hospice; details of the charity are at the bottom of this page.

As part of the Big Dog Art trail, schools and community groups were invited to adopt a “Swinpup” – which will sit alongside the full size Dogs. Bow Court and Hazelmead House were successful in adopting a pup and residents and staff have completed the decoration of our pup - nicknamed "Barry" but officially known as "Paws for Thought" on the trail. Our pup will be located at the Wyvern Theatre.

We also need to raise an “adoption fee” of £500 minimum in aid of Julia’s House hospice. Residents and staff have now completed a variety of events during our “sponsorship week" 2nd to 8th June.

We are asking for sponsorship for all of us as a group. Events held:

Friday 2 June: "The boys" sponsored walk led by Alan and Resident and staff fancy dress dance-athon

Saturday 3 June: Staff special triathlon (Mandy – 10k bike ride, Hayley – 1 hour horse ride, Sarah – 10k run) – undertaken simultaneously

Individual events by residents from 5th to 8th June: swimming, dog walking, cycling and fitness classes.

We are grateful for any amount you are able to donate to this fantastic charity.
