Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

At the end of April I'm going to be taking on what will probably be my biggest endurance challenge yet. I am not a swimmer. I am a runner. An injured runner, who has taken to the pool to keep active.

Although I am a fit endurance athlete, I have never come close to swimming 5km in one go, let alone swimming entirely "crawl". Crawl is a good description of my swim pace, although someone more knowledgeable once described it as more like drowning in a forwards direction.

If I was going to ask people to sponsor me, I wanted to do something that I knew would be hard. And I do want to ask.

Vizsla Welfare is an amazing charity who do fantastic work helping dogs who would otherwise have few or no options. The last few years have stretched them to the absolute limit.

In addition to the issues of neglected or unwanted ex-breeders, and the usual careless neglect, a combination of lockdown dogs no longer wanted, the breed becoming more popular without an appreciation of the needs of a working dog, and a "cost of living" crisis have left the charity utterly overwhelmed. They don't have enough fosterers, adopters, funds for vets bills, to name but a few things.

Any help you are able to give, would be very much appreciated.
