Story
Help me raise money for The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre Northallerton. Our local facility treating, caring, providing and supporting our friends and loved ones through cancer treatments and health and wellbeing services.
Since turning 50 last May, I don't think I've ever reflected so much on the value of health and life as much as I have over the last few months. It's made me realize how much has changed for many in the last decade and how lucky I am.
Many of my close friends, family members and patients I see at work have encountered life changing health issues/illnesses, many affected by cancer and sadly some of them are no longer with us, some are on their treatment journey and amazingly many have fought courageously and are on the other side.
To acknowledge the bravery and the courage of my family and friends with their health and life challenges, I have chosen to do something to push myself out of my comfort zone by having my hair shaved off. My hair is like for many others "my security blanket" so no more stressing about a dodgy haircut or my fringe not being right I'm just going to be out there bald, bristly and going grey. My hubby hates me having a short haircut; I’m worried my Grandkids will be scared of me, but hey what the heck, it will grow back, it’s my choice. Lots of people encountering chemotherapy amongst other reasons for hair loss don't have that choice AND they are dealing with illness, worry and dreadful side affects.
So come on and support me in making a difference to OUR families and friends using our local facility and make sure they can receive the free complimentary services such as reflexology and massage, the teas, coffees, biscuits and sandwiches while they have their chemotherapy and other treatments.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS AND WOULD BE WONDERFUL IF YOU COULD SHARE MY POST IF YOU WISH
