Story

In support of the most wonderful place called Maggie's, the Pugh-Hick’s; Sarah, Chris, Harry, Robert and SJ, will be abseiling down Guildford Cathedral on 6th July 2024. As many of you know, Dad (John, CoCo!) has been receiving cancer treatment for some time, and most recently at the Royal Marsden in Sutton.

On one of Mum and Dad’s first trips there they found a place called Maggie's which has been a great source of comfort and support to our family over the years. It is a place of positivity, of calm and of kindness. A place that they can go between treatments to make everything more bearable and a place that connects those that are following similar journeys - a place that the journey would be so different without.

Maggie's is completely self-funded and so needs our support so that it can offer the comfort that it has given and continues to give to our family, to so many others. Thank you for taking the time to consider a donation to a place close to our hearts.

Now, how do you tie a bowline knot again??

A little more about Maggie's..

Maggie's Centres provide free cancer support and information in centres alongside NHS hospitals and online. Providing emotional support and practical advice; a place to go where you can meet and talk to people who are going through the same things.

Every Maggie’s is thoughtfully designed to be calming and welcoming; a place to escape from the clinical environment of the hospital. There are no reception desks and no clocks; instead, there are comfy sofas and plenty of time.

The centres have large open spaces for group activities and a kitchen table to chat to other people. We also make sure there are plenty of peaceful corners for quiet moments and a chance to gather your thoughts.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

How your donations could help Maggie's:

£15 could help pay for someone to get immediate support from a Cancer Support Specialist.

£30 could help pay for a session with a psychologist to reduce someone's anxiety.

£100 could help pay for a support group for people with cancer to meet others.

Thank you so much for any support you can offer x
