LIGHT TO LIGHT!
In August 2023, I plan to undertake the biggest self-propelled mission of my life - flying back to Scotland from Australia to trail run the country end-to-end from the most southerly point at the Mull O'Galloway lighthouse; to the most northerly tip of the remote Outer Hebrides - at the Butt o' Lewis lighthouse.
With the exception of ferry travel to get out to the islands, I'm planning to run 30km every single day; back to back days; to complete this adventure within a month.
Whenever I think about my "why" for this mission - my response is often a very grateful, "Because I Can". The privilige that comes with this - the freedom to travel overseas; as a woman; alone - the freedom to lace up my shoes whenever I fancy and run in the bush - and the freedom to take on this mission which I've dreamed up; is not lost on me.
To think there are other women living on the same planet as me who do not share this freedom breaks my heart and makes me want to be a part of the change and empowerment that Free to Run is so crucially driving in these areas.
This run is for me and for the freedom and visbility of all women, regardless of where they are born and the culture they live in.
