Story
Whilst our day jobs involve investments and financial planning, we have decided to invest some time in giving back and will be taking on the Great North Run on the 10th September. Sarah doesn’t like noise when she runs and Ian is taking a rustling rucksack full of diabetic things…will they manage 13.1 miles together???
This will be a challenge for us both (Sarah has never ran this distance before) and so we would love to raise as much money as possible for an amazing charity – St Gemma’s Hospice.
St Gemma’s Hospice is a Leeds-based charity providing expert care and support for local people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses. They offer care at their In-Patient Unit in Moortown, North Leeds and also through their community team and via Out-Patients. Both of us have been touched by friends and family that have had terminal illnesses and we felt we wanted to give something back.
We have both seen first-hand the dedication of the staff at St Gemma’s, supporting not only their patients but wider family and friends at very difficult times. As we all know, it costs a lot to keep vital services like this running every day. For example, £500 provides one day of In-Patient care at St Gemma’s, covering everything from expert care, to pain relief and a meal. At the other end, it costs £20,000 every day to run all of St Gemma’s services and activities.
So, please help us raise as much money as possible….no donation is too small as collectively it all makes a massive difference.
A big thank you in advance for your support!
