Story
On 23rd June I'll be attempting to walk the 47km Cotswold Way Challenge alongside some colleagues from Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire where I work as an adviser. We're doing this to raise money to support our work providing free, confidential and impartial advice to over 6000 people every year. We all face problems that, at times, can seem complicated or overwhelming and at Citizens Advice we believe no one should have to face these problems alone, without access to good quality, independent advice.
We aim to empower our clients, giving them the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward - whoever they are, and whatever their problem. This could be anything from debt and benefit advice, help with homelessness or escaping domestic abuse to consumer rights issues or even where to get help with moving a washing machine!
Whilst Citizens Advice exists nationally as an umbrella organisation, each bureau is its own independent charity, needing to fund itself. We therefore rely on your generosity to run face-to-face support in six venues across the county, as well as a daily telephone adviceline and bespoke debt and benefit advice services. In particular we are trying to fund a move to a local base more fit for purpose than our current old and cramped offices in Yate, primarily so we can better meet the increasing demand we have from clients for our services.
Any donation, big or small will make a huge difference. To find out more about our work, please go to www.southgloscab.org.uk.
