WHAT & WHO

Rain or shine, we WILL be running (or walking, hopping or crawling!!) at Cotswold Airport, Kemble on Saturday 14 October 2023

WHY

When my brother Matthew was very poorly with lung cancer last year, in his final months, weeks and days, the wonderful people of Longfield Hospice based in Minchinhampton, took care of him at home, where he wanted to remain until the end.

Longfield provides specialist services for people living with a life-limiting illness in Gloucestershire, 365 days per year.

This meant he could be in the comfort and safety of his own surroundings with his close family during his final journey of life.

These nurses are the absolute epitome of care. The respect, kindness and professionalism they provided to Matthew and to us when we most needed it is indescribable and will never be forgotten.

So I want to do something to thank them and to help others who are going through or will at some point go through the same unimaginably hard times as we did, by raising some much-needed and worthy funds for the Hospice and the Community Care Team.

A couple of stats about this wonderful charity:

In 2022/2023 they have supported over 1,633 patients, family members and carers.

85% of their income is raised through their shops and voluntary donations/fundraising.

This year, they need to raise over £4.7 million.

So they need our support, no matter how much or how little we can manage!
