Equestrian One Day Event...Without the Horse!
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. Brain Tumour Research is looking to find a cure as well as campaigning to increase the amount of investment that is given to its research.
There are over 120 different types of brain tumour, ranging from grades 1 - 4, and what causes them is still unknown. There are roughly 16,000 people diagnosed with a Brain Tumour every year in the UK alone, and there are an estimated number of 60,000+ people living with a brain tumour.
The staff at Mercator Digital are divided into Houses - Gerardus, Atlas and Globe. Each year a charity is chosen by the members of the House. This year my house, Gerardus, voted for Brain Tumour Research.
To do my bit I am going to do a One Day Event (an equestrian sport)...but on foot! I will perform a full British Eventing dressage test, followed by a small course of showjumps, followed by a cross country course (well, a run round the estate, jumping whatever natural obstacles I find) - in the full correct attire for each event. Don't worry, I will be sure to capture it all on film!
