SANDY DUFFUS’ TRACTOR RUN 2024
We are delighted to announce Sandy Duffus’ Tractor Run 2024. On Wednesday 14th August the tractor run will leave Turriff Haughs , with the impressive JCB Fasttrac Doddie The Icon (driven by Sandy) leading the way through, Rothienorman and arriving at Thainstone Mart. If you are interested in taking part please donate a minimum entry fee of £20 -it all helps fund the incredible research that will help find a cure for future generations.
Local farmer Sandy Duffus was born in Dufftown in 1965. Attending Fyvie Primary and later Turriff Academy Sandys passion for farming started at a young age when he began to help on his family farm croft at Cletty Den, Fyvie. After marrying his true love Sonya, in 1989 their family grew when they welcomed their 3 children Kayleigh, Claire and Neil and brought their family up in Auchterless for 21 years where they are a huge part of our local farming community. After moving to his “forever home” in Foggie in 2021 Sandy and his family were given the diagnosis that he had an aggressive form on MND but in true Duffus style the family want to make a difference.
After an exciting Turriff show, Chris Powell's team had organised for the impressive Doddie The Icon Fastrac JCB to be on their stand and Sandy was given the opportunity to drive round the main ring, where along with Annie Kenyon they raised over an incredible £20,000 for the Doddie Foundation. Not only did this gain huge exposure for the Foundation , importantly it gave Sandy a huge boost and he is now keen to drive it to its next event near Edinburgh.
Kayleigh was keen to promote the foundation even further and contacted Annie, Chris and Kim to see how we could organise tractor run for all the local farmers to show our thanks and support to Sandy and his family, and of course raise as much money as we can for the foundation.
The plan is to meet at Turriff Haugh's at 5.30pm on Wednesday the 14th August and the Tractor Run will leave at 6.30pm – led by Sandy in the Fastrac. Heading up to Thorneybank, Sandy will lead the way through Rothienorman and we will arrive at Thainstone Mart. He hopes to see many of his friends old and young.
To be given a diagnosis of MND is an impossible thing to accept. To be told there is NOTHING than can be done, is not acceptable . MND is not incurable ..... there is currently no cure because its under funded and the Foundation are making a huge difference but funding new research every day. What we want to do is collectively help make a difference and just as importantly give Sandy a great evening to remember and tick off his Bucket list.
Please keep an eye on this page for any further details – and donate any amount big or small .
With love and thanks
The Sandy Duffus Tractor Team
