Story
We are going to be driving a reconditioned ambulance from London to Ukraine on 22 September as a father and son team. The ambulance, filled with medical equipment such as defibrillators, endoscopes, crutches and bandages, will be donated to the medical authorities in Ukraine as part of an ongoing effort to support its people during the war with Russia.
We will be driving in a convoy of ambulances for Medical Life Lines Ukraine. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Medical Life Lines Ukraine has delivered 64 aid-filled ambulances to Ukraine, alongside 21 generators and an all-terrain rescue crane. This work has undoubtedly saved lives and - perhaps more importantly - shows the people of Ukraine that a large number of people around the world remain acutely aware of their plight and keen to help them in whatever way they can.
We are fundraising for the entire cost of buying, reconditioning and delivering the ambulance to Ukraine, and the fundraising target for volunteer-drivers is high. In the happy event that our target is met, any additional donations will be used to buy extra medical equipment, specialist clothing and vehicles needed by Ukrainian emergency services. Medical Life Lines Ukraine works closely with the health and emergency authorities in Ukraine to identify and deliver what is actually needed on the ground quickly and efficiently.
We hope that you, like us, will see the value in supporting this charity, which is run entirely by unpaid volunteers. This endeavour is even closer to our hearts because, as you may or may not know, our family line of Shandros originated from Banyliv in western Ukraine!
Any donation, big or small, will be really appreciated.
